"I Am A Vincentian"

'Vincentians' aren't only priests and brothers. Being a Vincentian is a life path anyone can choose. You are a Vincentian by following the spirit of our founder along your daily road. That is, to be devoted to serving others; to live with humility and in charity; to place all trust in God's providence; to share Jesus' love with the poor and the good news of salvation to him. These things occupy the heart, mind, soul and time of a Vincentian.

Yet, even more important than all these occupations is this: that we recognize that any holiness we may demonstrate or worthy deeds we may accomplish are God's gifts to us and not the other way around. As Vincent de Paul emphasized, we are mere instruments, echoes, and reflections of God's perfection.

'If there is any good in us and in our manner of living', the saint wrote, 'it comes from God, and it is up to God to manifest it, if he thinks it advisable. As for us, however, we are poor, ignorant, sinful ones, who should keep ourselves hidden ...'

Yes hidden and humble. Let us contnue together, we followers of Vincent, rejoicing in the Lord along every step of the way home to eternal life in his presence, just like Mary. - Father Kevin, C.M.
